How to custom make your ring

by fanssteel

The first and foremost thing to do is to get a concept for your ring. These are questions you need to ask yourself.

·         How would you want it to look like?

·         Your choice of metal is an integral part of the design. Gold, platinum, silver, and recycled metals are the most commonly used due to their intrinsic durability. Research the current worth of the metal before making your final decision, as cost can vary quite frequently.

·

·         What kind of feel are you going for (e.g. vintage, modern, simple)?

·         From minimalistic and traditional, to ornate and romantic, there are an array of details that can be combined to create the perfect ring for your partner. From the width of the band, to the height of the setting, it’s important that the ring fits your style. When purchasing a custom ring, you have the ability to incorporate your partner’s taste into every element.

·

·         What kind of personality or lifestyle does the recipient has (e.g. tendency for rough work would require proper settings)?

·         The setting for the center diamond and sidestones greatly determine the look and stability of the ring. A solitaire will emote a clean, classic feel, while additional stones and detailing will give the ring a more intricate appearance.

·         One of the most important aspects of the ring is the fit. Be sure to ask if the ring you are considering can be resized, as some designs cannot be altered once they are finished. Here are some suggestions to help you find the perfect size

·

·

·         What is your budget?

·         The first step in selecting a ring is to decide on a price point. There are no rules when it comes to how much you should be spending. If there’s concern about meeting design elements within your budget, a qualified Maker will be able to offer alternatives to fit your requirements. Research your options and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Once you have a fair idea of what you want, it would be great if you could sketch out the design on a piece of paper. Once you complete that, snap a photograph of it and send it to us. We will contact you to ask you to provide more information and an estimated quote for your ring.

After you confirm the quotation and production lead time, We will make your design with CAD and will print your CAD wax, Some the wax are made by hand.

Then the wax will be casted as the mother mould. Repaired the mould and make into a rubber mould, we will create the mould of the size you want.

The last step is to cast your ring and polish them and plate, enamel, setting, etc.

When selecting a maker, it is important to research the portfolios on our site, and to ask questions regarding price, process, and timing. You want to work with someone who is clear, responsive, and displays a deep understanding of your vision. In need of inspiration?
